On April 23, 2026, the seventh edition of the PHILCON international student conference took place. The event is an initiative of the English Studies Research Club at the University of Radom, operating under the supervision of Dr. Ewa Klęczaj-Siara at the Department of Modern Languages in the Faculty of Philology and Pedagogy.
The conference was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Pedagogy, Professor Anna Zamkowska. The event was partnered by the American Center for Culture and Information—American Corner Radom, coordinated by Ms. Urszula Malmon, as well as the Alumni Association, represented by board member Ms. Anna Jurczak.
The main theme of the conference was practical and creative concepts and interpretations of literary works and cultural phenomena, as well as new trends in linguistic studies and foreign language teaching methodology.
Two plenary lectures were held during the conference. The first was delivered by Ms. Nancy Rawles, author of the novel *My Jim*, who shared her experiences related to the Creole culture of New Orleans. The second plenary lecture was delivered by Ms. Jean Kirschenmann from the University of Honolulu, a current English Language Fellow. The lecture focused on practical strategies for developing writing skills.
The event also featured a special session on the use of AI in language education, led by Professors Louiza Belaid and Naima Sahli from the Ibn Khaldun University of Tiaret in Algeria.
The remaining presentations were delivered by students from the University of Radom and other universities in the country, as well as Fulbright ETA scholar Catherine White, who is currently working at the University of Radom. Her presentation focused on the Miami English dialect.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for students from the University of Radom and other institutions to exchange experiences and share the results of their research.
Heartfelt congratulations are due to Dr. Ewa Klęczaj-Siara, a member of the Alumni Association, for organizing this important event.
