Polish Alumni celebrated the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence

On June 16 and 17, numerous members of the Alumni Association participated in celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, organized by U.S. diplomatic missions in Kraków and Warsaw. Both events served not only as an opportunity to commemorate an important milestone in U.S. history, but also to highlight the enduring partnership and friendship between Poland and the United States.

In Kraków, guests were welcomed by U.S. Consul General Gretchen Cureton and U.S. Ambassador to Poland Thomas Rose. The ceremony combined an official tone with a less formal atmosphere—in addition to speeches, participants were able to enjoy a concert by the U.S. Armed Forces Band, sample American specialties, and celebrate together with an anniversary cake.

The following day in Warsaw, in the gardens of the Royal Castle, a large group of Polish Alumni gathered once again. Beautiful weather, a unique atmosphere, and lively music perfectly captured the festive spirit of this special day.

The “Freedom 250” celebrations demonstrated that the anniversary of American independence has also become a celebration for the Polish Alumni community—an opportunity to reconnect and showcase just how active and cohesive a community Polish graduates of American exchange programs form.
