On April 6th – 8th 2018 Alumni met in Polanczyk at Lake Solina to spend the beautiful, sunny and rich in attractions long weekend together.
We were hosted by the “Eskapada” Inn, which made their guest rooms, dance floor and excellent cuisine available especially to us. On the day of arrival we officially opened the grilling season.
The schedule of the stay was very rich, well taken care of by Wojciech Blecharczyk – longtime mayor of the city of Sanok, doctor of Earth Sciences, nature enthusiast and a ‘child’ of Subcarpathia. At his prompting we visited the water dam on Solina (sightseeing included the heart of the dam, its deepest parts and the crown of the dam), dam in Myczkowce and the Castle of Sanok (Historical Museum with a collection of amazing icons and brilliant paintings by Zdzislaw Beksinski), the Rural Museum of Folk Architecture in Sanok and the Sanok main square with its colorful attractions.
During the stay there was also time for matters of the Association. During an afternoon meeting of the Alumni Wojciech Blecharczyk talked about Subcarpathia, the Sanok region and his latest passion – Smart Cities. With regard to the upcoming General Meeting Rafal Pieprzyk recalled events from the Association’s life in 2017, outlined plans for the future and the development of the “Alumni Family”. At the conclusion of the meeting each participant shared their experience of staying in the U.S.
The entire trip lasted almost three days but the wonderful, sunny weather, excellent food and beverages, a rich program of activities and great company made it a time that flew by too quickly.
We hope to return to the land of Subcartpathia.
