On March 10, 2020, in the 5th General Secondary School Adam Mickiewicz’s in Częstochowa took place the final of the Spelling Quiz 2020 competition. The author of the competition is Marzanna Gromotowicz, a teacher of the 5th High School and a member of our Association.
The main goal of the competition was to popularize English among young people and mobilize their creative will and motivation to learn English, as well as to acquire the skills of positive competition. The goal was achieved by checking the ability of accurate pronunciation and knowledge of the English alphabet and spelling. Participants from Częstochowa and the Częstochowa poviat competed in two categories: SENIOR (secondary school students) and JUNIOR (primary school students). Their task was to spell correctly, using the English alphabet, eight words ranging from three letters to ten letters. The level of the final struggle was very high, and the concentration of participants and audience strongly felt.
The student of English spelling in the SENIOR category is Zuzanna Michalczyk from Juliusz Słowacki High School in Częstochowa. The master of English Spelling in the JUNIOR category is Dawid Kuźma from Jan Brzechwa Primary School in Zajączki Pierwsze.
The event was preceded by the musical My American Dream, which introduced everyone to the atmosphere of English language and American culture. The musical was prepared by Mrs. Dominika Tomecka and students of the 5th High School.
The Spelling Quiz 2020 competition was held under the auspices of: MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska, Mayor of Częstochowa Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Director of the Częstochowa Delegation of the Silesian Education Board of Alicja Janowska and the Department of Promotion and Innovation of the Polish Patent Office.
The event was also sponsored by the Alumni Association. We funded a roll-up, which will now remain the emblem of the Spelling Quiz competition.
