Rafal Pieprzyk, President of the Alumni Association, participated in the Belarus Exchange Alumni Reunion conference on October 11-12, 2024. Due to the political situation in Belarus, the conference was held in Lithuania, more precisely in Vilnius. It was organized by the American Council, which was supported by the Belarusian section of the US Embassy in Lithuania and the US-LT Alumni Association (Lithuanian Alumni Association). The conference was attended by Belarusian scholarship recipients who currently live in many European countries, including: Poland, Germany, Spain, Georgia and Lithuania.
October 11 was a very busy day. During it, various aspects of community building among Belarusian grantees of US State Department programs were presented. Proposals for their projects were presented by some of the Belarusian participants. Then the American, Lithuanian, Georgian and Polish sides shared their experiences.
The first day ended with a reception, during which everyone could get to know each other better in a less official atmosphere. There were many conversations, during which as many as four languages reigned: Belarusian, English, Lithuanian and Polish.
The second day of the conference was a day of work in working and thematic groups. During this work, Belarusians were able to present their ideas for events or project proposals. The result of the conceptual work should be the basis for joint work for Alumni not only from Belarus, but also, for example, from Poland.
The second day was also a time to visit Vilnius – a place as beautiful as incredibly marked by history.
