The Alumni Association took the honorary patronage of the event of the 4th Days of Jewish Culture “Close Ones and Distant Ones” organized by Katarzyna Łaziuk, member of our Asosociation, in Mińsk Mazowiecki.
The aim of the project was to show that the memory of Jews consists not only of the memory of the Holocaust, but above all the memory of Jewish culture, which was and still is an inspiration for our culture. Understanding of the Jewish fate is also reflected in the awareness of the threats of the modern world, which must be opposed. Such undertakings increase the awareness of Jewish participation in creating history and treating Jewish themes as part of our common history.
The organizers thank the Alumni Association for their support. Special thanks go to Mr Krzysztof Cichocki for his invaluable help in organizing the meeting of Prof. Susannah Heschel, honorary guest of the 4th DJC, with Mrs Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of the City of Łódź. Professor Heschel, daughter of Abraham Joshua Heschela, one of the 20th century’s greatest thinkers, while sharing her father’s scientific heritage, emphasized the value of commitment to the other human being and drew attention to social-moral dilemmas of the modern world.
