“Quo Vadis Polish education …?” was the topic of an educational conference held on October 25, 2025, at Piwnica Powszechna in Krakow. The event was organized by the Staropolska Academy of Applied Sciences in Kielce, the Jerzy Turowicz Association, the Tygodnik Powszechny Club, and Piwnica Powszechna in Krakow. The Alumni Association was the patron of the event.
The meeting was attended by speakers with experience in the field of education:
– Dr. Łukasz Tupacz – secondary school teacher, academic teacher, methodological advisor, finalist of the Teacher of the Year 2024 competition;
– Violetta Kalka – secondary school teacher, education activist, winner of the Irena Sendler Award “For Repairing the World” for fighting bullying in schools and helping its victims, strategic communications and professional development manager, expert on counteracting bullying and discrimination at the Foundation “When the bell rings”;
– Bartosz Prońko – former vocational teacher, career counselor, deputy school principal, methodological advisor, and member of the disciplinary committee for teachers at the Świętokrzyskie Province Governor’s Office, currently director of the Education Department of the City of Kielce.
The meeting was moderated by journalist Michał Robak, editor of the ŚwiatOZE.pl portal and chairman of the Medity Scientific Circle of Journalism, Media, and Social Communication.
During the two-hour discussion, which was watched live and online by several hundred people, issues were raised concerning primarily the role of teachers in contemporary schools and the challenges involved in effective teaching, cooperation with other teachers, school authorities, and above all, with parents who are increasingly interfering in the work of schools. The participants touched upon the difficult topic of finding one’s place in the ever-changing reforms and directions of school development, as well as the generally visible changes in the modern world. Unsurprisingly, the search for an answer to the conference question “Quo Vadis Polish education?” remained without a concrete answer due to the multitude of issues affecting the functioning of modern education. Nevertheless, the speakers unanimously emphasized that the well-being of young people acquiring knowledge is of utmost importance and that they will continue to fight for it in their teaching and educational work.
Thanks for organizing the conference go to the members of our Association: Piotr Zimoch and Łukasz Tupacz. Congrats!
