Exhibition and concert in Opole

On 1 December 2018 at the Opole Philharmonic a piano concert took place entitled “100 years together. Let’s celebrate Herbert Hoover.” It was a unique concert organized jointly by the Alumni Association and the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow. The event’s partners were: the Marshall of the Opole Voivodeship and the Opole Philharmonic.

The star of the evening was Neal Larrabee, excellent American pianist, participant of the Chopin Competition. The artist played selected works from the repertoire of I.J. Paderewski, F. Chopin, S. Barber and L.M. Gottschalk. The concert was preceded by an exhibition and a screening of the film about Herbert Hoover’s achievements. Hoover was a great philanthropist, organizer of material and humanitarian assistance addressed to the Polish Nation in the first half of the 20th century. He was also the 31st President of the United States.

The concert and exhibition were organized as part of the 100th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States of America. Special thanks are due to Dorota Michniewicz-Rybarz, member of our Association who organized this wonderful event. You can read more about it and listen to it under the following links:
